Family science night was a great success! Despite the rainy weather, a lot of families came out! At some point, my Penny Drop station was so crowded, I was literally squished out of my seat! But it was so nice to see all the parents coming in with their children and experimenting with water and surface tension. Some of the kids managed to put 30+ drops on their pennies! Some of the parents managed 50+!! Overall, I had so much fun seeing the excitement in both children and parents.
I couldn't take a lot of pictures because we were SO busy, but here are a few pictures of our set up and stations just to give you an idea. =)

Here's the Wordle I created for our Penny Drop experiment. |

One of our two tables. This is where my partner, Michelle, was stationed. |

Here was my station. Notice our materials are different. We had this table set up as the waiting table, but when students and parents starting filing in, I had to quickly change it to the penny drop experiment because this one was taking a lot longer than anticipated! Talk about improvisation! And with all the excitement going on, my table eventually became DRENCHED in water! =) |

My partner's poster. How smart of her to include Spanish! =) |

I wish I could post the one picture of the students that I did manage to get, but for privacy concerns, I won't be able to do so. However, bear in mind that if you're an educator or a parent, a night like this was definitely worth the effort and time.
A special thanks to the school and all the teachers who offered us their classrooms. =)
